120 x 100 x 20mm Non-Woven Interleaf Flap Wheel – 220 Grit

The GC Abrasives 120 x 100 x 20mm Non-Woven Interleaf Flap Wheel – 220 Grit combines coated aluminum oxide abrasive flaps with flexible non-woven abrasive material for simultaneous sanding, blending and surface finishing.

Its interleaf construction provides more cutting action than an all-non-woven finishing wheel while maintaining greater surface control than a conventional all-cloth abrasive flap wheel. The combination helps remove fine scratches, oxidation and processing marks while producing a consistent brushed or satin finish.

With a 120mm diameter, 100mm working width and 20mm bore, the wheel provides broad surface coverage for stainless steel sheet, tubing, fabricated components and other metal surfaces. The 220-grit configuration is particularly suited to fine blending, grain finishing, satin finishing and surface preparation.

Ideal for use with compatible burnishing machines, linear finishing machines, polishing machines and surface conditioning tools.

Size: 120 x 100 x 20mm | Grit: 220 | Construction: Aluminum Oxide Abrasive Cloth + Non-Woven Abrasive | Application: Blending / Satin Finishing / Wire Drawing / Surface Conditioning

Product Description

Product Overview

The GC Abrasives 120 x 100 x 20mm Non-Woven Interleaf Flap Wheel is engineered for professional metal surface conditioning applications where controlled material removal and a consistent decorative finish are required.

The wheel is constructed with alternating layers of coated aluminum oxide abrasive flaps and flexible non-woven abrasive material. This dual-action construction combines the cutting capability of coated abrasives with the blending and conditioning characteristics of non-woven abrasives.

During operation, the coated abrasive flaps help remove fine scratches, oxidation, machining marks and minor surface imperfections, while the non-woven flaps simultaneously blend the abrasive pattern and refine the surface.

The result is an efficient sand-and-finish process in a single operation, making the wheel particularly suitable for stainless steel fabrication and decorative metal finishing. Interleaf construction is widely used industrially where both light stock removal and a uniform brushed or satin finish are required.

The wide 100mm working face provides excellent coverage on larger surfaces, while the flexible radial flap structure follows flat areas, moderate contours and profiles.

The 220-grit specification is optimized for fine blending and surface refinement rather than aggressive grinding, making it suitable for producing controlled linear scratch patterns and preparing surfaces for subsequent polishing or finishing.

Key Features

◉ Dual-Abrasive Interleaf Construction

Alternating aluminum oxide abrasive cloth and non-woven flaps combine controlled cutting with surface conditioning in a single wheel.

◉ Sand & Finish in One Operation

Removes minor surface imperfections while simultaneously blending the abrasive pattern, helping reduce additional finishing steps.

◉ 220 Grit Fine Finishing

The 220-grit configuration provides controlled cutting action for fine blending, grain finishing and satin surface refinement.

◉ Consistent Brushed Finish

Designed to produce a controlled and uniform linear scratch pattern on stainless steel and other metal surfaces.

◉ Wide 100mm Working Face

Provides efficient coverage for stainless steel sheet, panels, tubing and larger fabricated components.

◉ Flexible Flap Structure

The radial flap construction adapts to workpiece surfaces and maintains consistent abrasive contact during finishing.

◉ Reduced Loading & Heat Build-Up

The open non-woven structure promotes airflow and provides space for debris, helping reduce loading and excessive heat during surface finishing. Similar interleaf constructions are specifically used for these advantages in industrial finishing.

◉ Controlled Material Removal

More aggressive than an all-non-woven flap wheel while offering greater finishing control than an all-coated abrasive flap wheel.

◉ Self-Renewing Abrasive Action

As the abrasive material wears, fresh abrasive surfaces are continually exposed to help maintain consistent working performance.

Applications

◉ Stainless Steel Grain Finishing

Creates and restores controlled linear grain patterns on stainless steel sheets, panels, tubing and fabricated components.

◉ Satin Finishing

Produces a consistent brushed or satin appearance for decorative and functional metal surfaces.

◉ Scratch Blending

Helps blend fine scratches, machining marks and previous abrasive patterns into a more uniform finish.

◉ Weld Area Refinement

Refines grinding marks and surface transitions after weld finishing operations.

◉ Oxidation Removal

Removes light oxidation, discoloration and surface contamination while simultaneously conditioning the underlying surface.

◉ Surface Conditioning

Conditions fabricated metal surfaces after grinding, machining or welding.

◉ Polishing Preparation

Prepares metal surfaces for subsequent polishing, buffing or decorative finishing operations.

◉ Stainless Steel Fabrication

Suitable for applications such as:

Kitchen Equipment • Food Processing Equipment • Elevator Panels • Architectural Metalwork • Stainless Steel Railings • Tanks • Tubes & Pipes • Fabricated Metal Components

Recommended Application Positioning

For this specific 220-grit interleaf wheel, I recommend changing the emphasis of your existing page.

Instead of:

Paint Removal → Rust Removal → Polishing

use:

Fine Blending → Grain Finishing → Satin Finishing → Surface Conditioning

This better reflects the product's actual strength. Industrial interleaf wheels are positioned by major abrasive manufacturers for combining stock removal with finishing, while finer configurations are particularly useful for grain finishing, satin finishing and controlled scratch patterns.

Heavy paint or coating removal should not be the primary selling point of this 220-grit SKU; GC Abrasives' Clean & Strip / Poly Strip products are better positioned for aggressive coating removal.
