GC ABRASIVES
Our Surface Conditioning Flap Disc combines flexible non-woven abrasive material with a durable layered flap construction. It is designed to provide controlled cutting action and a consistent finish while minimizing the risk of gouging, undercutting or significantly changing the dimensions of the workpiece.
Unlike conventional coated abrasive flap discs used for heavy stock removal, surface conditioning flap discs are ideal for light deburring, cleaning, blending and finishing operations. The flexible abrasive flaps follow the shape of the workpiece and maintain effective contact with flat, curved and irregular surfaces.
The product is available in 115 mm (4-1/2”), 125 mm (5”) and 180 mm (7”) diameters. Five abrasive grades—from Coarse to Ultra Fine—allow users to select the appropriate balance between material removal and surface refinement.

| Grade | Cutting and Finishing Characteristics | Recommended Applications |
|---|---|---|
| Coarse | Stronger cutting action and a relatively aggressive finish | Rust removal, oxidation removal, heavy cleaning and initial surface preparation |
| Medium | Balanced cutting and surface-blending performance | General cleaning, weld blending, light deburring and surface preparation |
| Fine | Controlled cutting action with a finer finish | Scratch blending, pre-polishing and preparation before coating |
| Very Fine | Low material removal with consistent surface refinement | Satin finishing, cosmetic finishing and fine surface blending |
| Ultra Fine | Minimal cutting action and the finest surface finish | Final finishing, surface refinement and preparation for polishing |
The actual finish may vary depending on the workpiece material, applied pressure, grinder speed and operating technique.
