GC ABRASIVES
The GC Abrasives 3" Hard Unitized Aluminum Oxide Wheel is a compact industrial finishing wheel engineered for applications requiring controlled material removal, good edge stability and consistent surface quality.
The wheel is manufactured from layers of non-woven abrasive material compressed and bonded into a dense unitized structure. Compared with conventional open-web non-woven wheels, this construction provides greater firmness and resistance to deformation while retaining enough resilience for controlled finishing.
The aluminum oxide abrasive provides reliable cutting action for general metalworking applications. Combined with the hard wheel structure, it is particularly effective for deburring, edge breaking, blending, surface refinement and finishing of machined components.
Its narrow 1/4" (6.35 mm) working width provides precise access to edges, profiles and localized areas where wider finishing wheels may be difficult to control.

I recommend adding the center-hole / mounting specification as a separate attribute once the actual GC Abrasives SKU is confirmed.
Also, do not convert “Hard” into a grit number. For this product:
Abrasive Mineral = Aluminum Oxide
Density = Hard
If GC has an additional grade designation such as 5A, 6A, 7A, 8A, etc., that should also be listed separately rather than inferred.
The dense, compressed non-woven structure provides greater firmness and edge stability than conventional open-web finishing wheels.
Provides effective cutting action for general-purpose deburring, blending and finishing of metal components.
Designed to remove burrs and refine sharp edges while providing better control than aggressive conventional grinding wheels.
The hard density helps the wheel maintain its working profile when finishing edges, corners and localized areas.
The 6.35 mm working width provides precise contact for narrow edges, profiles and detailed finishing applications.
The smaller wheel diameter is well suited to detailed work and areas where larger finishing wheels offer limited access.
Abrasive is distributed throughout the unitized structure, allowing new abrasive to become exposed progressively as the wheel wears.
Designed for use within a maximum operating speed of 18,100 RPM when correctly mounted on compatible equipment.
Suitable for removing light-to-moderate burrs generated by:
Machining • Milling • Drilling • Stamping • Cutting • Fabrication
Helps smooth sharp edges and corners while maintaining good control over the workpiece geometry.
The narrow working face is particularly suitable for controlled finishing of component edges and profiles.
Blends tool marks and localized surface imperfections left by previous manufacturing operations.
Helps refine residual grinding marks and transitions after weld grinding.
Conditions metal surfaces before coating, polishing or subsequent finishing operations.
The compact 3" diameter and 1/4" width make the wheel suitable for smaller components and restricted working areas.
Suitable for applications where controlled abrasive contact is more important than high stock-removal rates.
Recommended application positioning:
Carbon Steel • Stainless Steel • Alloy Steel • Aluminum • Brass • Copper • Other Compatible Metals
The exact wheel specification should be selected according to workpiece material, burr size and required finish.
This is worth explaining on the GC Abrasives product page because “Hard” is a genuine selling point, not merely a specification.
| Characteristic | Hard Unitized Wheel | Softer Unitized Wheel |
|---|---|---|
| Wheel Firmness | Higher | Lower |
| Conformability | Lower | Higher |
| Edge Stability | Higher | Lower |
| Profile Retention | Better | More flexible |
| Contact Control | Precise | More forgiving |
| Best Positioning | Deburring & edge finishing | Blending & contoured finishing |
HARD DENSITY
MORE EDGE STABILITY → MORE CONTROLLED DEBURRING
This would make an excellent second product image or technical-detail graphic.
