Non-Woven Surface Conditioning Flap Disc with Plastic Backing

Professional Non-Woven Flap Disc for Blending, Deburring & Surface Finishing

GC Abrasives Non-Woven Surface Conditioning Flap Discs with Plastic Backing are designed for professional metal surface conditioning, blending, deburring, cleaning, finishing and polishing applications.

Manufactured with multiple overlapping non-woven abrasive flaps mounted on a durable plastic backing plate, the disc combines flexible abrasive action with stable support. The open non-woven structure conforms to the workpiece surface and provides controlled material removal while helping minimize deep scratches, gouging and excessive removal of the base material.

Compared with conventional grinding abrasives, non-woven flap discs are particularly suitable for applications where surface quality is more important than aggressive stock removal. The flexible flaps continuously expose fresh abrasive during operation, helping deliver a consistent and uniform finish.

Available in Coarse, Medium, Fine and Very Fine grades for different surface conditioning requirements.

⚙ Key Features

Flexible Non-Woven Abrasive Flaps

Flexible non-woven abrasive material conforms to flat, curved and contoured surfaces, providing controlled abrasive action and a consistent finish.

Durable Plastic Backing

The plastic backing plate provides stable support for the abrasive flaps while maintaining a lightweight and practical construction for use on compatible angle grinders.

Consistent Surface Finish

Overlapping abrasive flaps provide multiple layers of working material, helping maintain consistent finishing performance throughout the service life of the disc.

Reduced Loading

The open-web non-woven construction helps resist loading and clogging when working on metal surfaces.

Cooler Grinding

The open structure allows improved airflow around the working area, helping reduce excessive heat buildup and minimize heat-related surface discoloration.

Controlled Material Removal

Designed primarily for surface conditioning rather than aggressive grinding, the disc helps remove surface imperfections while preserving the geometry of the workpiece.

Why Use a Non-Woven Flap Disc?

One Disc for Multiple Finishing Operations

Non-woven flap discs can perform several surface treatment operations with one product, including cleaning, blending, light deburring and finishing.

Flexible Surface Contact

Unlike rigid grinding wheels, the flexible abrasive flaps conform more closely to the workpiece, making them particularly effective on irregular surfaces, edges and contours.

Reduced Risk of Gouging

Controlled abrasive action helps prevent excessive stock removal and deep grinding marks, making the disc particularly suitable for finishing operations where maintaining the original workpiece geometry is important.

Consistent Finish

As the overlapping flaps gradually wear during operation, fresh abrasive material is continuously exposed, helping maintain a consistent surface finish.

Reduced Heat Build-Up

The open non-woven construction helps dissipate heat during operation, reducing the risk of excessive heat discoloration on heat-sensitive metals such as stainless steel.
