GC ABRASIVES
The GC Abrasives 6" x 2" Non-Woven Polishing Wheel is an industrial abrasive wheel developed for cleaning, blending, surface conditioning and finishing applications where controlled abrasive action and consistent surface quality are required.
The wheel combines white aluminum oxide abrasive with a resilient non-woven fiber structure. The three-dimensional construction allows the working surface to conform to the workpiece while maintaining controlled abrasive contact. GC's existing product information identifies white aluminum oxide and positions this wheel family for metal wire-drawing and finishing operations.
Unlike conventional rigid grinding wheels designed primarily for high stock removal, this non-woven wheel focuses on surface refinement. It is suitable for blending scratches, refining previous processing marks, removing light oxidation and producing a more consistent surface before subsequent finishing.
Its 2-inch-wide working face provides greater surface coverage than a 1-inch wheel, making this configuration particularly useful for larger components and production finishing.

For the current 6" × 2" specification, GC lists U0/3P, U1/5P, U3/7P, U5/9P and U8/12P.
I recommend adding the actual bore size, abrasive grade/grit and maximum RPM only after confirming those specifications for this exact GC SKU.
The wide working surface provides greater contact area for efficient finishing of larger components, panels and fabricated metal parts.
Provides controlled abrasive action for general metal cleaning, blending and surface-finishing applications.
The resilient abrasive network conforms to the workpiece and provides consistent contact during finishing.
Available in 3P, 5P, 7P, 9P and 12P, providing different levels of flexibility and firmness for different finishing requirements.
Designed for surface refinement rather than aggressive grinding, helping preserve the geometry of the workpiece.
Helps blend sanding marks, machining lines and minor surface imperfections into a more uniform finish.
The porous non-woven construction provides space for debris and airflow during surface-finishing operations.
Suitable for industrial applications requiring repeatable blending, conditioning and decorative finishing.
Ideal for conditioning stainless steel sheets, fabricated components and hardware where a uniform surface appearance is required.
Helps refine sanding lines, machining marks and minor scratches left by previous processing stages.
Creates a more consistent surface between grinding, fabrication and subsequent finishing processes.
Suitable for refining small burrs and edges where aggressive grinding is unnecessary.
Helps remove light oxidation, discoloration and surface contamination while simultaneously conditioning the surface.
With the appropriate density and abrasive grade, the wheel can be used for directional grain and satin-finishing operations.
Suitable for surface processing of handles, hinges, locks and other architectural or furniture hardware. These applications are also represented in GC's existing non-woven polishing-wheel content.
Suitable specifications can be selected for aluminum, copper and other compatible non-ferrous metal components.
This is particularly important for the 6" × 2" product because all five GC density options are available.
| Density | Relative Structure | Recommended Positioning |
|---|---|---|
| 3P / U0 | Most Flexible | Contours & softer finishing |
| 5P / U1 | Flexible | Cleaning & blending |
| 7P / U3 | Medium | General-purpose surface finishing |
| 9P / U5 | Firm | Controlled grain & finishing |
| 12P / U8 | Firmest in this range | Shape retention & defined contact |
3P → 5P → 7P → 9P → 12P
MORE FLEXIBLE → MORE FIRM
CONFORMABILITY → BALANCED FINISHING → CONTROLLED CONTACT
Keep density and grit separate. A 7P wheel, for example, should not automatically be described as a specific abrasive grit.
Compared with a 6" × 1" wheel, the 6" × 2" configuration provides twice the nominal working width.
This makes it particularly useful when the objective is to cover broader surfaces efficiently rather than concentrate abrasive contact on a narrow area.
6" × 1" → CONTROL & VERSATILITY
6" × 2" → COVERAGE & PRODUCTIVITY
