Non-Woven Abrasive Wire Drawing Wheel for Metal Surface Finishing

The GC Abrasives Non-Woven Abrasive Wire Drawing Wheel is designed for cleaning, blending, grain finishing and surface conditioning of stainless steel and other metal surfaces.

Its open three-dimensional non-woven abrasive structure provides controlled cutting action while maintaining flexibility and consistent contact with the workpiece. The 80-grit configuration is ideal for initial surface conditioning, scratch blending, light rust and oxidation removal, and preparation for subsequent finer finishing steps.

The wide cylindrical working surface provides efficient coverage on metal sheets, tubes, railings, handles, architectural hardware and fabricated components.

Designed for compatible burnishing machines, linear finishing machines, polishers and surface-finishing tools.

Product Description

Product Overview

The GC Abrasives Non-Woven Wire Drawing Wheel – 80 Grit is a professional surface-conditioning abrasive designed for metalworking applications requiring stronger cleaning and blending action combined with controlled surface finishing.

The wheel uses an open three-dimensional non-woven abrasive structure. Unlike rigid grinding wheels, the flexible abrasive network conforms to the workpiece and provides controlled cutting action with less risk of creating deep grinding marks.

The open structure also provides space for grinding debris and airflow during operation, helping reduce loading and heat buildup.

The 80-grit configuration provides a stronger cutting action than finer wire-drawing wheels and is therefore particularly suitable for initial surface preparation, cleaning, scratch blending and grain restoration.

After the initial conditioning step, finer grades can be used when a smoother satin or decorative finish is required.

Key Features

◉ Open Non-Woven Abrasive Structure

The three-dimensional abrasive network provides effective cutting action while maintaining the flexibility required for controlled surface conditioning.

◉ 80 Grit for Stronger Conditioning

Designed for the earlier stages of surface finishing where more cleaning and blending action is required.

◉ Clean & Blend in One Step

Helps remove light oxidation and surface contamination while simultaneously blending scratches and previous processing marks.

◉ Consistent Directional Grain

Suitable for creating or restoring brushed grain patterns on stainless steel and decorative metal surfaces.

◉ Flexible Surface Contact

The non-woven structure conforms to flat surfaces, tubes, profiles, edges and moderately irregular components.

◉ Reduced Loading

The open structure provides space for debris generated during surface conditioning, helping maintain abrasive contact.

◉ Cooler Finishing Action

Airflow through the open abrasive network helps limit excessive heat buildup during operation.

◉ Wide Working Surface

The wide drum-style construction provides efficient coverage and helps maintain a consistent finish across larger workpieces.

Applications

◉ Stainless Steel Surface Conditioning

Ideal for initial conditioning of stainless steel sheets, tubes, railings and fabricated components.

◉ Scratch Blending

Blends sanding marks, machining marks and light scratches before subsequent finer finishing.

◉ Light Rust & Oxidation Removal

Removes light rust, oxidation, discoloration and surface contamination while conditioning the underlying metal.

◉ Wire Drawing / Grain Finishing

Creates or restores directional brushed patterns on stainless steel and other compatible metals.

◉ Weld Area Refinement

Helps blend remaining grinding marks and transitions after weld grinding.

◉ Architectural Hardware

Suitable for finishing:

Door Handles • Hinges • Locks • Railings • Furniture Hardware • Decorative Fittings

◉ Stainless Steel Kitchenware

Suitable for surface conditioning of stainless steel utensils, kitchen equipment and fabricated components.

◉ Aluminum, Copper & Brass

Provides controlled cleaning and blending on suitable non-ferrous metal components.

◉ Lighting & Decorative Hardware

Suitable for producing or restoring brushed finishes on lighting fixtures and decorative metal components.

Recommended Product Positioning

For this black 80-grit version, I recommend emphasizing:

CLEAN → BLEND → GRAIN

rather than primarily using the word “Polishing.”

80 Grit is better positioned as the stronger initial-conditioning member of your wire-drawing wheel range. If GC Abrasives offers the previously discussed 80 / 120 / 180 grit series, the website can present them as:

GritPositioningTypical Use
80 GritCLEANInitial conditioning, oxidation removal, stronger scratch blending
120 GritBLENDGeneral blending and grain refinement
180 GritFINISHFine grain and satin finishing

This gives buyers a much clearer reason to purchase different specifications instead of seeing them simply as three grit numbers.
